MRS. RONALD MACDONALD’S. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). Composed by Big Ranald MacLellan, a fiddler and blacksmith who came by his sobriquet because he stood six and a half feet tall, and weighed some 270 lbs. He was the father of Cape Breton musicians Donald, Theresa and Marie MacLellan. Burt Feintuch (2004) says he was “legendary for his playing of the old traditional tunes.”
