CHASSEURS, LES (The Hunters). AKA and see "Big Ship (The)," "Glise à Sherbrooke," "Home Sweet Home (1)," "Hunters (The)," "Quadrille de chez nous (1)." "Quadrille national 2ème partie," "Reel de Tadoussac (1)." French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. J.A. Boucher's "Les chasseurs" is one name for a popular reel that has been recorded under a variety of titles in Quebec and elsewhere, although, as researcher Jean Duval finds, they are all derivatives of Henry Bishop's (1786-1855) song "Home Sweet Home (1)" composed for the stage. In addition to "Les Chassuers.]," Quebec titles include "Quadrille de chez nous (1)" (Allard, 1923), "Quadrille national 2ème partie" (Soucy, 1928), and "Reel de Tadoussac (1)." Contra dance musicians are familiar with the reel under the "Glise à Sherbrooke" title.
