RIGGED SHIP, THE. AKA and see "Jolly Corkonian (The)," "Over the Hills," "Braes of Glenorchy (2)," "Corcaigeac Sugac (An)," "Hills of Glenorchy (1)," "Old as the Hills (2)," "Jackson's Delight (2)," "Peeler’s away with my Daughter (The)," "Jockey's Lament (The)," "Wild Hills of Wannie's (The)." English, Jig (6/8 time). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The "Rigged Ship" title is not the usual name for the tune, which has an Irish provenance. The tune was used for the Northumbrian song "Wild Hills of Wannie's (The)." According to Philip Heath-Coleman[1], Yorkshire fiddler Billy Pinnock called the tune "Killicrankie Jig," and "played it as the second tune in a set for a dance known as the New Rigged Ship, preceded by the real "New Rigged Ship," which name has been foreshortened and applied to the "Hills of Glenorchy"."
