CALEDONIAN QUADRILLE. Scottish, Quadrille Set. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). The "Caledonian Quadrilles" consist of music from five popular Scottish melodies, for the five figures of the dance. The tunes used for the quadrille vary somewhat, and include "My Love is but a Lassie Yet" (first figure), "Before I Was Married (1)" (second figure), "Banks of the Dee (1) (The) or "Hexham Races" (third figure), "When I Parted" (fourth figure) and ends with "Gordon of Lismore" or "White Cockade (1) (The)." The entire quadrille set was entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript book of musician Lawrence Leadley, of Helperby, Yorkshire.
