O'Neill's and O'Farrell's settings are identical. Fr. John Quinn identifies the first and third strains of "Good Fellow (1)" to be variants of two-part "Camstroden's Rant" family of tunes, traced to the early 18th century in Scotland. The first strain also can be found in "Hop Jig (1)" and "Irish Dance (1)", although the rest of the tune differs.
