ABERGELDIE CASTLE (1). Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (or ADae, a la Allie Bennett). AABB. Composed by biography:Alexander Walker. The Brittonic prefix Aber- means ‘mouth’, and was attached to names of rivers.

Abergeldie Castle is a tower house style of castle located in Royal Deeside near the Royal Family country home at Balmoral near Ballater. It was constructed in the 16th century by Sir Alexander Gordon of Midmar, later named the Earl of Huntly. It remained in Gordon hands for centuries, until Prince Albert obtained a long term lease in 1848, after which it was used as a summer home by successive members of the Royal family. It features a vaulted Great Hall on the first of its three floors, now restored to its original state.
