The town of Aberlour is a town founded in 1812 by Charles Grant of Wester Elchies, located at the mouth of the Lour Burn (the prefix ‘aber’ is a Brittonic word meaning ‘mouth’), a tributary of the River Spey. Today it is the site of the Walker Shortbread Factory, in an area known for whisky and tourism.
