DOODLEY DOODLEY DANK. AKA and see "Cock and the Hen (1) (The)." Irish, Slip Jig (9/8 time). Ireland, County Donegal. G Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This melody has been a popular slip jig in County Donegal, associated with the areas of Teileann (Teelin) and Kilcar in the south-west. Teileann fiddler Con Cassidy (1909-1994) believed that it was Frank Cassidy (1900-1971) who gave the tune its title, which belongs to a nonsense verse sung to the first strain, often used as a lilting and lullaby tune. Researcher Conor Ward finds "Cock and the Hen (1) (The)" and "Leather You Rogue (The)" to be members of the same tune family.
