The tune is in a common song form, AABA, in which the first strain melodic material is repeated, and second half of the second strain returns to the first strain material. The tune is cognate with "To Rodney We will go," a Country Dance or reel printed by Glasgow publisher biography:James Aird in his Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 3 (1788, p. 100).
