FLY BY NIGHT [1]. AKA - "Fly in the Night." AKA and see "Arthur's Seat (1)," "Star Hornpipe (2) (The)." Irish, Hornpipe. G Major (Black): A Major (Bulmer & Sharpley, Taylor): E Flat Major (O'Malley). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Taylor): AA'BB' (Black, O'Malley). O'Malley (1976) says the tune was composed by Belfast fiddler Sean Maguire, who put it on a tape for him; however, it is a variant of the hornpipe "Arthur's Seat (1)," by Scots composer James Scott Skinner (1843-1927).
