FORTINGALL FAIRS. Scottish, Strathspey. E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune appears in Malcolm McDonald's 1788 collection, a volume dedicated to Mrs. Baird of Newbyth. Fortingall is a parish in Perthshire and the fair was held annually in December. The day prior was a fair for selling cattle and sheep. The 3,000 year old Fortingall Yew is Europe's oldest tree.
