HANDSOME SALLY [2]. Irish, Air (3/4 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. "I learned this pretty ballad, air and words, from constantly hearing it sung at home in my childhood, and I never heard it elsewhere. Further than this I know nothing about it: but I believe it commemorates a real event. I am not aware that it was ever printed before, either air or words" (Joyce).

Young men and maidens, I pray draw near'
The truth to you I will now declare;
How a young lady's heart was won;
All by the loving of a farmer's son.
