IRISH GIRL [1], THE. Scottish, Slow Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Very old, Skye set," notes Keith Norman MacDonald in The Skye Collection (1887). It was printed a century earlier in Rev. Patrick MacDonald's Collection of Highland Vocal Airs (1784) as simply "An Irish Air," and it may be that K.N. MacDonald (who probably copied the 'Vocal Airs' tune) fleshed out the title to "Irish Girl."
