MRS. BLAIR OF AVONTOWN'S FAVORITE. Scottish, Slow Quickstep. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Mrs. Blair was probably Isabella Cornelia Halkett, originally from Fifeshire, who married Robert Blair (1741-1811), a lawyer and judge. They lived at the small estate of Avontoun, near Linlithgow, and had one son and three daughters. Blair was solicitor general of Scotland from 1780-1806, and, at the end of his life, Lord President of the Court of Session. Sir Henry Raeburn painted his portrait.
