MISS DONALDSON'S STRATHSPEY--OF BANFF. Scottish, Strathspey ("Slowly when not danced"). E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). One of the Donaldson girls of Kinnairdy Castle, Banff, daughters of Thomas Donaldson of a merchant family (Moyra Cowie, The Life and Times of William Marshall, 1999). The castle is near the river Deveron and still exists in good repair today. See also “Miss Young.”
