O'MEAGHER OF IKERRIN. Irish, March (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A clan march. The O'Meaghers (also Meachair, Maher, Meagher, etc.) were an ancient clan who held lands in northeast County Tipperary, between the provinces of Munster and Leinster, an area known as Ikerrin (Ui Cairin). Its primary town, anciently called Muscraighetire, where the barony of lower Ormond (Butler) became situated, was called Ros Cré (“Wood of Cre”) now Roscrea, Tipperary.
