JOHNNY MICKEY'S POLKA. AKA - "Johnny Mickey Barry's." AKA and see "Polca an Dreoilín," "Tourniore Lasses," "Wren (1) (Polka) (The)." Irish, Polka (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. David Taylor (1992) remarks that the tune was named after Johnny Mickey Barry (?-1981), a renowned concertina player from Toureendarby, near Newmarket, in the Sliabh Luachra region. He was a student of renowned Lisheen musician Tom Billy Murphy's, from whom he received his core repertory. The polka was recorded in a set with the tune "Salmon Tails" by the Oyster Band and has occasionally been called "Salmon Tailing up the River (2)" as a result.
