CATH(A)RINE'S DEAD. Irish, American, Jig (6/8 time). USA, northern Indiana. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. An Irish jig collected in northern Indiana. Bayard's source could only remember one line of the ditty sung to this tune:

Catharine's dead and her daddy don't know it.

He did, however, remember that there was the belief that if this tune was sung at a dance or a party then someone would die.
