CELLAR DOOR KEY, THE. English, Old Hornpipe (3/4 time). England, Northumberland. G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A variant of the minor-key 3/2 time triple hornpipe "Cam Ye O'er Frae France/Come Ye Ower Frae France," popular in Scotland and the north of England. Vickers' ms. version [1] gives the time signature as 6/8 but notes are grouped in 3/4. See also the closely related "Jack Lintel's Jigg," also in Vickers' ms., and Robert Bremner's "Miss Murray’s Reel (2)."

Source for notated version: William Vickers' music manuscript collection (Northumberland, 1770) [2]
