DAN BACKUS' FAVORITE. AKA and see "Going to the Fair," "Jim Coleman's (1)," "Liverpool Jack's," "Miss McGuinness (3)," "Take your Choice," "Terence's Ramble." American, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. According to Paul Wells, Backus was a violinist and dance prompter in the Boston area in the latter 19th century [1]. Francis O'Neill printed versions of the tune in his collections under the titles "Take your Choice" and "Going to the Fair." "Miss McGuiness (3)" is a member of this tune family, albeit quite distanced from the primary variants.
