DANCING LADIES. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, North Carolina. D and A Major. AEae tuning (fiddle). The melody was in the repertoire of fiddler Archibald Alexander Shaw, Harnett County, N.C. (located in the Sandhills section between the coastal plain and the piedmont). It is supposedly a tune unique to the area, not played in other parts of the state, according to Evelyn Shaw (OTH).
