DELRACHNIE'S RANT. AKA - "Delrachnay's Rant." AKA and see "Heigh Way to Inverness," "High Way to Inverness," "Highway to Inverness," "Prince's Welcome into Inverness (The)." Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. A note in Walker (1866) says "very old." He is correct, for the melody appears in the 1770 Northumbrian music manuscript collection of William Vickers, under the title "High Way to Inverness." Under the spelling "Delrachnay's Rant" is was published by biography:Donald Grant of Elgin in his Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs &c. (c. 1790). Anne Gilchrist[1] noted that, in her experience, the Rant was a name rather loosely applied of various lively dance-tunes, but properly seemed to her to have belonged to a quick 2/4 time melody. However, as this strathspey suggests, it could be applied to several dance tune genres.

Dalrachney Lodge (note spelling) is an Edwardian-era hunting lodge built in 1845 by the River Dulnain in Carrbridge.
