AKA - "Dennis Murphy's Miss McLeod's." Irish, Reel. Ireland, County Kerry. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B (Taylor): AABB (Mulvihill). Paul de Grae calls this tune "a characteristic Sliabh Luachra reel, played with repeats as is common with such tunes" ^[1]. The alternate title "Now She's Purring" was Pádraig O'Keeffe's name for the tune, notes Martin Mulvihill. Denis Murphy, a student of Sliabh Luachra fiddle master O'Keeffe's, recorded it as "The Doon Reel" on a 1940's 78 RPM made in New York, and it is said to have been a favorite tune of his. The "Callaghan" and "Doon" titles refer to fiddler and farmer Cal Callaghan of Doon, County Kerry, from whom his nephew O'Keeffe learned many of his tunes.
