DORCHESTER HORNPIPE. English, Hornpipe. England, Dorset. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Dorchester, the chief town of Dorset, was established and named by the Romans Durnovaria, with the first element of the name derived from the Welsh dwrn, meaning 'a clenched fist', probably in reference to the Iron Age hill fort near the town.
