DRUNKEN SAILOR [3], THE (Mairnealac Meisceamail). AKA and see "Groves (The)," "Groves Hornpipe (The)." Irish, Hornpipe. G Dorian (Vallely) or A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Phillips): AABBCCDDEE (O'Neill, Vallely). The tune is a minor-key version of "The Groves." It is perhaps slightly more common in the tradition in the key of G Minor. A sixth part for the tune appears on a recording by fiddler Paddy Glackin and Jolyon Jackson and is sometimes heard at sessions. See also the related "Johnny Cope (2)" and "Johnny Cope (4)."
