EARL OF DALHOUSIE [1], THE. Scottish, March. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Niel Gow. (1727-1807). The earl was George Ramsay (1770-1828), for whom see the note on "Earl of Dalhousie's Reel (2)". The Gows' Fifth Collection (1809) was dedicated to the Countess of Dalhousie, born Christina Broun (d. 1839), daughter of Charles Broun of Colston and Christian MacDowell.
