ELTERWATER QUICKSTEP. AKA and see "Lamb Skinnet." English, March or Country Dance Tune (4/4 or 6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The "Elterwater Quickstep," is in both 6/8 and 4/4 time versions in the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Lake District musician William Irwin, with the 4/4 time version attributed to himself. The 6/8 version also was entered into the manuscript of Cumbrian musician Henry Stables. Elter Water is the smallest of the 16 lakes in the Lake District and is also the name of a nearby village; both are situated in the valley of Great Langdale.
