Jackie Small, editor of CRÉ V, says the three-part tune in that volume is the one usual among present-day Irish musicians. An untitled three-part reel on page 173 of Bernard Flaherty's Trip to Sligo (1990) is a related tune. The reel was recorded as a three-part tune on Dervish's "Midsummernight" CD as part of the set entitled "Out on the Road." Liner notes to the album identify it as a popular session tune that was recorded by piping master Séamus Ennis. See also the closely related "Rip the Calico" and "Tear the Calico (2)." Researcher Conor Ward also links the tune with "Three Pans of Boxty (The)" and "'Three Scones of Boxtie (The)", collected from County Leitrim and Fermanagh musicians respectively, Alex Sutherland's (County Leitrim) "Potato Garden in Blossom", and "Clougher Reel (2) (The)," popularized by the Kilfenora Ceili Band.
