FAREWELL TO ERIN/EIREANN [2] (Slán le hÉireann). AKA and see "[Give Us Another]," "Leitrim Thrush," "Maid in the Cherry Tree," "Naughton's." AKA - "Farewell to Ireland (2)." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Some would class this tune as a variation on "Farewell to Erin (1)," though it was distinct enough that fiddler Michael Coleman (1985-1945), originally from south County Sligo, recorded it for Columbia in 1921 in a medley with "Farewell to Erin (1)" (although the label reads only "Farewell to Ireland"). County Sligo/New York fiddler James Morrison, likely following Coleman's title, also recorded the tune for Columbia in 1935 under the title "Farewell to Ireland." In O'Neill's 1903 collection, the same basic tune (sourced from Mayo fiddler John McFadden) appears as "Give Us Another." There are some similarities to "Master McDermott's Reel" (aka "Barrel Rafferty's Reel").
