FAREWELL TO NIGG. Scottish, March or Jig. A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). The melody was composed Duncan Johnstone of South Uist, Shetlands, and Glasgow in the mid-1970s. Johnstone set his tune at a brisker pace than is common today, with modern players having been influenced by a slower arrangement of the melody by the Whistlebinkies c. 1976 (recorded by them on their first album on the Claddagh label in Edinburgh 1977).
