FATHER EUGENE'S WELCOME TO CAPE NORTH. Canadian, March (2/4 or cut time). Canada, Cape Breton. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Shears): AABBCCDD (Cranford/Holland). Composed by the late Ingonish, northside Cape Breton, fiddler Mike MacDougall (Ingonish, Cape Breton, 1928-1982). Barry Shears says Father Eugene Morris is a noted step-dancer. Sandy MacInnis also composed a jig in his honor. Cape North is at the northernmost tip of Cape Breton, jutting into the St. Lawrence Sound, looking toward Newfoundland.
