GIGUE À MA TANTE ALFREDA, LA. AKA - "Gigue de ma tante Alfréda," "Gigue à ma marraine Alfreda (La)," "Gigue à Alfreda (La)." French-Canadian, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. A 'crooked' tune with the first part in cut time and the second in 3/4 time. Guy Bouchard notes that the tune is one that is not very melodic but is very well suited to the Sayguenay region step-dancing style. Recorded by Louis Boudreault, composed by him in honor of his Godmother Alfreda. A gigue in Québec is a stepdance, and the name attached to a tune simply means a vehicle for stepdancing, no matter what the meter.
