GLEANNTÁN FROLICS [2]. AKA and see "Ceanngulla Slide." Irish, Slide (12/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Famed Sliabh Luachra fiddler and teacher Padraig O'Keeffe (1887-1963) played the tune in a medley with "Gleanntán Frolics (1) (The)" and "Hare in the Corn (4) (The)." The tune title honors Glountane Cross (Gleanntán), the birthplace of O'Keeffe, located in County Kerry in the townland of Knockdown, Cordal. Terry Moylan compares the tune with collector George Petrie's "Baile Bheachain."
