GREEN CORN. AKA - "Hot Corn, Cold Corn." American, Reel. USA; West Virginia, the Ozarks. GCgd tuning (fiddle). The tune was recorded for the Library of Congress by musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph from Ozark Mountain fiddlers in the early 1940's. The tune is also played in the key of A Major. John Hartford (2001) says, "Dr. Gray played this on the fiddle and the banjo, and Dough Dillard says this is the first tune he learned to pick on the banjo." Dr. Jimmy Gray played the fiddle in contests in the great Jefferson City radio fiddle conventions.
