GREEN FIELDS OF ROCKALL, THE. Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tongue-in-cheek title given by Donegal fiddler Danny O'Donnell (d. 2001) to an untitled tune by Francie Byrne. Paul de Grae says: "According to Danny, Francie had a lot of Scottish tunes mixed in with the Irish ones, partly from family members who went back and forth to Scotland for work, and this tune may be Scottish. Danny played it after one of Francie's own compositions, the well-known "Launching of the Boat", but he was quite clear that "Green Fields..." is not by Francie."
