GUNBOAT. AKA and see "Hornio," "Going Down to Georgie-o." Old-Time, Breakdown. USA; Braxton County, W.Va. A Major. AEae tuning (fiddle). ABB'. West Virginia fiddler Ernie Carpenter learned his version from the playing of Wallace Pritchard. West Virginia fiddler Melvin Wine called the tune "Gunboat Whistled into Georgi-o." Perhaps by the title alone it is thought to be a Civil War-era tune, although there is no proof of this assertion.
