HIGHLAND LADDIE [2]. AKA and see "Highland Laddie's Hornpipe." English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. Seattle (1987) says that the first half of the tune is very similar to "Highland Laddie's Hornpipe" (Highland Laddie (1)) in Vickers' MS, while the 'B' part is a repetition of "Buttered Peas (1);" but Vickers' and Peacock's versions seem very similar to me. Peacock prints another "Highland Laddie" tune in his collection (see "Highland Laddie (4)"). The melody was entered into music manuscript collection of musician Walter Rainstorp. The inscription on the cover of his volume reads: "Walter Rainstorp, 1747. Bought Cheapside, London."
