JAMES DUFF, M.P. Scottish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). James Duff (1814-1879), 5th Earl Fife, of London and Delgatie Castle, was a Member of Parliament for Banffshire from 1837 to 1857. In the latter year he was created Baron Skene, of Skene. Inn 1845, the year of Marshall's publication, he married Lady Agnes Georgiana Elizabeth Hay, the daughter of William Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll, and Lady Elizabeth FitzClarence (an illegitimate daughter of William IV); they had five children.
