JOHN HOWAT(S) REEL. Scottish (originally), Canadian; Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Kerr, Welling): AA'BB' (Cranford, Songer). A 19th century composition credited to Hugh Dunlop by Kerr. The reel is popular among Cape Breton fiddlers and has been recorded often. See also Dunlop's companion "John Howat's Strathspey." Kerr also prints two tunes in his name: "Hugh Dunlop (1)" and "Hugh Dunlop (2)."
