MR. J. S. SKINNER. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Walker (b. 1819) for the renowned musician J. Scott Skinner, who at the time was a dancing master employed by the Royal Family to teach at their Scottish residence in Banchory. It was there that Walker and Skinner became acquainted. Skinner, who was to gain fame later in his career as a violinist and composer of Scottish tunes, was better-known at this time for his skill at Scottish dance.
