ALEXIS LE TROTTEUR. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time).  D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Alexis le Trotteur (Alexis the Trotter) is a near legendary Quebec athlete whose hey-day was in the early 20th century. Although his identity and origins are somewhat obscure, he is thought to a man named Alexis Lapointe (1860-1924), who was famed as a runner. He participated in fairs and competitions where he showed off his physical abilities to make a profit. It was said he could dance all evening and all night without tiring.
