ARTHUR LECLERC'S WALTZ. AKA - "Valse Arthur LeClerc." AKA and see "Valse Hochelaga." French-Canadian, Waltz (3/4 time). D Major: G Major (Billette & Mallette). Standard tuning (fiddle). ABCB'ABC (Billette & Mallette): AA'BB'. From the playing of Keith Corrigan (b. 1933, Valcartier, Qué.). "Valse Hochelaga" was recorded by accordion player Donat Lafleur (1892-1973) for Columbia Records in 1928. Lafleur lived in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood of Montréal, Québec, as did fiddler Isidore Soucy, with whom Lafleur sometimes recorded. The name Hachelaga is derived from the name of an Iroquois village that occupied the site when first visited by French explorers.
