"Cha n eil fonn aira n ighean duibh", or "The Black Girl is not Cheerful," is an anonymous composition from fiddler-composer Daniel Dow's (1732-1783) Collection of Ancient Scots Music (c. 1775). The title refers not to race, but rather to hair color. The melody was published under the title "Duchess of Gordon (1) (The) in Dunkeld fiddler-composer Niel Gow's First Collection (1784).
