BON GOUT. AKA and see "Fast (The)," "Lads of Bonny Town," "Well Done Jack (5)." English, Country Dance Tune and Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was entered into the 1770 music copybook of fiddler William Clark of Lincoln. Bon Goût is French for 'good taste'. Bruce Olson found the tune in another music manuscript in the British Library (MS Addl. 23971, p. 96b), also dated to the 1770's as "Lee [sic] Bon Gout."
