CHARLES LESLIE OF FINDRASSIE'S STRATHSPEY. AKA - "Charles Leslie." AKA and see "Highland Reel (3) (The)," "Jenny Rock the Cradle." Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Athole): AABB' (Kerr). "Charles Leslie of Finrassie's Strathspey" was composed by Elgin fiddler-composer biography:Donald Grant" and published in his Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs &c. (1820-21). The subject of the title was Charles Abraham Leslie (1796–1847), 5th Baronet of Wardis and Findrassie, a member of the Leslie family descended from Robert Leslie of Findrassie, son of George, 3d earl of Rothes.

The tune appears set as a reel in Ayrshire fiddler-composer John Hall's c. 1818 collection under the title "Highland Reel (3) (The)." A cognate reel called "Jenny Rock the Cradle" was entered by County Cork cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman into his mid-19th century music manuscript collection.
