CORPORATION [1], THE. AKA and see "Fête Champêtre." English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Barnes dates the tune to 1777. The tune appears under the "Fête Champêtre" title in Charles and Samuel Thompson's Complete Collection, vol. 4, published in London in 1780. That same volume also has a tune called "The Corporation," but it is a duple-time country dance melody.
