HAMILTON HOUSE [3]. English, Air (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was included in a production of Shakespeare's MacBeth, in which most of the music, including this air, was composed by cellist and composer James Oswald [1] (1710-1769). Oswald, originally from Edinburgh, had established himself in London, where presumably his MacBeth was staged. In addition to James Oswald's 1760 publication, the melody appears the John Rook music manuscript collection of 1840-1841 (Waverton, Cumbria).
