JACK O'LANTERN REEL. AKA and see "California Hornpipe (3)," "Pink Eyed Lassie." D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears as "Jack O'Lantern Reel" in Elias Howe's 1882 publication, and soon afterwards in Howe's employee William Bradbury Ryan's Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) as "Pink Eyed Lassie." Around the same time it was printed as "California Hornpipe (3)" in Köhler's Violin Repository, Book 2 (1881-1885).
