JOHNNY MICKY'S SLIDE (Sleamhnán Sheáinín Mhicí). AKA - "Johnny Mickey's Slide," "Seán Mhicí." Irish, Slide (12/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title refers to Johnny Mickey Barry (?-1981), a concertina player from Toureendarby, northeast of Newmarket and a student of renowned Lisheen musician Tom Bill Murphy. The first strain of the tune is sometimes associated with versions of the ballad "The Maid Freed from the Gallows"[1] [Child 95, Roud 144, in America called "Slack your rope, hangman").
