KISS IN THE KITCHEN, A. AKA and see "Duchess of Athole's Favourite." Irish, Air (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. P.W. Joyce obtained the tune from the manuscripts of Irish collector biography:William Forde (c. 1759-1850), who had it from Patrick MacDowell. Forde resided in County Cork, where he gave lecture-recitals about popular music from the entire world, in the Clarence Hall of the Imperial Hotel. He collected melodies in Munster and other parts of Ireland and amassed a huge collection of thousands of tunes, but did not generate enough interest from subscribes to publish. He moved to England, where he died in 1850.
Fr. John Quinn finds concordance with the Gows' slow 6/8 tune, "Duchess of Athole's Favourite."
